Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) Military Police Brigade in partnership with the Uganda Police Force (UPF) has launched a comprehensive operation targeting traffic chaos in the Metropolitan and to reclaim sanity on the busiest roads.
Effective Monday, 09th March 2026, these checkpoints are enforcing full compliance with traffic laws, impounding unregistered and numberless vehicles, curbing illegal siren use, and cracking down on reckless motorists who endanger lives daily.
In a statement signed by Col. Chris Magezi, the Acting Director of Defense Public Information, the operation will run for as long as it’s necessary to instill lasting discipline. He explains that this isn’t a one-off, it’s a proven strategy the security forces have deployed before to deliver results, ensuring safer journeys for workers, families, and traders alike.
“No excuses for breaking the rules,” the statement highlights, urging all motorists, including boda boda riders, to cooperate fully for the common good.
