Ugandaโ€™s She Cranes reclaimed the African netball title on Saturday, defeating defending champions South Africa 56โ€“53 in a thrilling final at Nairobiโ€™s Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.

The victory secured Ugandaโ€™s fourth continental title, following triumphs in 2014, 2017 and 2018, while completing an unbeaten tournament campaign under coach Rashid Mubiru. Uganda had earlier defeated Nigeria, Zambia, Kenya and Malawi before overcoming Namibia 52โ€“41 in the semi-final.

The win also avenged last yearโ€™s 56โ€“34 final defeat to South Africa in Malawi. Christine Namulumba, Shadiah Nassanga and captain Racheal Nanyonga led the attack, while Margaret Baagala earned the **Best Midcourt Player award and Nassanga was named **Best Goal Shooter**.

Strong defensive performances from Gloria Aya, Nassim Mutesi and Shaffie Nalwanja helped Uganda withstand South Africaโ€™s pressure and secure the crown.

Despite controversy over the tournament format and World Cup qualification arrangements, the She Cranes finished unbeaten and secured their place at the 2027 Netball World Cup in Australia, alongside South Africa, Namibia and Malawi.
