Adjumani District has received five portable ultrasound machines worth Shs100 million to improve antenatal care and enable early detection of pregnancy complications among nationals and refugees.
The equipment was handed over on October 5, 2026, through the Ministry of Healthโs Pathfinder International Empower Programme, with UK Government funding through the British High Commission. An additional Shs40 million will support training five health workers.
Dr Michael Ambaka, Medical Superintendent of Adjumani General Hospital, said the machines would bring essential scanning services closer to mothers, reducing costly and lengthy journeys to the hospital. Dr Daniel Kamya, Pathfinder International Regional Coordinator, said trained health workers would receive continued specialist mentorship to strengthen service delivery across the district.
