𝗠𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘆𝗿𝘀’ 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗽𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗘𝗯𝗼𝗹𝗮 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿𝗻𝘀

The government has postponed this year’s Martyrs’ Day celebrations following concerns about the Ebola outbreak in Eastern Congo.

According to President Yoweri Museveni, the decision was taken as a precautionary measure to protect public health. He noted that Uganda usually receives thousands of pilgrims from Eastern Congo during the annual celebrations, increasing the risk of cross-border transmission.

The President explained that the postponement is intended to safeguard both Ugandans and international visitors attending the event. Authorities say a new date for the celebrations will be announced later.

Martyrs’ Day is one of Uganda’s largest religious gatherings, attracting pilgrims from across East Africa and beyond each year.
