President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has called on British and European investors to expand their investment footprint in Africa, highlighting the continent’s enormous potential for economic growth, trade, and shared prosperity.
The appeal was made on Thursday, July 2, during a meeting with the United Kingdom’s Minister of State for International Development and Africa, Baroness Chapman, at State House in Entebbe.
According to a statement from the President’s Press Unit (PPU), the discussions focused on strengthening the long-standing partnership between Uganda and the United Kingdom, with particular emphasis on boosting investment and economic cooperation.
President Museveni stressed that deeper investment partnerships would play a crucial role in promoting value addition, accelerating industrialisation, creating jobs, and expanding mutually beneficial trade between Africa and Europe.
He warmly welcomed Baroness Chapman to Uganda and expressed appreciation for the cordial and enduring relations between Uganda and the United Kingdom.
The meeting was also attended by Uganda’s Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Haruna Kasolo Kyeyune, the British High Commissioner to Uganda, Lisa Chesney, and other government officials.
