Amolatar District has launched the construction of a modern mortuary at Amolatar Health Centre IV through a Shs250 million public-private partnership between the district local government and Woman MP Janet Auma Okao.
The project, approved by the district council, aims to improve the preservation and handling of bodies, strengthen health service delivery, and reduce the costs families incur transporting deceased relatives to facilities outside the district. District leaders described it as a landmark project and the first modern mortuary of its kind in the Lango Sub-region.
Officials said the facility will support the district’s efforts to upgrade Amolatar Health Centre IV to a district hospital, create local employment opportunities during construction, and provide residents with an accessible and affordable mortuary service.
