Mulago National Referral Hospital has treated 41 patients through its free two-week neurosurgery camp, reaching 41 per cent of its target of 100 beneficiaries. The initiative prioritises patients who have faced long waits for specialised brain, spine and nerve surgery.
Using advanced equipment, including a surgical microscope, medical teams are performing complex procedures that improve precision, reduce pain, restore mobility and enhance cognitive function. The camp is also easing the financial burden on families unable to afford private neurosurgical care.
Mulago hopes to complete the remaining procedures before the August 21 deadline, helping more patients regain their health and quality of life while reducing the country’s neurosurgical backlog.
