The National Information Technology Authority-Uganda (NITA-U) will officially launch the updated National Information Security Framework (NISF) on 15th July 2026, marking a major milestone in strengthening cybersecurity and safeguarding Uganda’s digital infrastructure.
The launch, to be held at Four Points by Sheraton Kampala, follows a comprehensive review of the framework to address emerging cyber threats and align government information security with international standards.
Developed under the Uganda Digital Acceleration ProjectโGovernment Network (UDAP-GovNet) with funding from the World Bank through the International Development Association (IDA), the revised framework introduces practical tools to help Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) assess and improve their cybersecurity readiness.
It also sets minimum security standards for critical information infrastructure and operational technology, providing a unified approach to managing cyber risks and protecting sensitive government data.
The launch will officially usher in the implementation of the framework across government, with MDAs receiving guidance on compliance, implementation tools and best practices to strengthen information security and support Uganda’s digital transformation.
NITA-U says the updated framework will enhance cyber resilience, protect government systems and promote the secure delivery of digital public services through stronger collaboration across the public sector.
