The Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC) has achieved a major milestone after earning three internationally recognised ISO certifications, reinforcing its commitment to global standards as Uganda moves closer to producing its First Oil.

The national oil company was awarded ISO 9001:2015 for Quality Management, ISO 14001:2015 for Environmental Management, and ISO 45001:2018 for Occupational Health and Safety Management following a comprehensive independent audit conducted by LMS Certification Services, an internationally accredited certification body.

The rigorous assessment confirmed that UNOC’s management systems meet globally recognised standards for quality service delivery, environmental stewardship, and workplace health and safety.

The achievement comes at a pivotal moment for Uganda’s oil and gas industry, with the country advancing toward First Oil. Officials say the certifications demonstrate that the systems supporting UNOC’s operations are aligned with international best practices, strengthening confidence in the company’s preparedness to manage the sector responsibly and efficiently.

The triple certification also reflects UNOC’s commitment to strong corporate governance, operational excellence and continuous improvement. It underscores the company’s focus on delivering high-quality services while safeguarding the environment and ensuring the health, safety and wellbeing of employees, contractors and other stakeholders.

The ISO 9001:2015 certification recognises UNOC’s ability to consistently deliver customer-focused services through documented and continually improving processes. ISO 14001:2015 affirms the company’s structured approach to environmental protection and risk management, while ISO 45001:2018 highlights its dedication to maintaining safe and healthy working conditions across its operations.

With the internationally recognised certifications now in place, UNOC has further strengthened its institutional capacity and operational credibility, positioning the company to play a leading role as Uganda prepares to join the ranks of oil-producing nations.
