The Busoga East Policing Region has received 77 motorcycles to enhance transport and operational efficiency under the governmentโs Sub-County Policing Model.
The policing model was initially rolled out by increasing personnel at police stations to ensure adequate staffing across their areas of jurisdiction. The newly delivered motorcycles are intended to address the transport challenges that remained after the deployment of officers.
The initiative follows President Yoweri Museveniโs directive to extend police services to all sub-counties, supported by sufficient manpower and the necessary operational equipment.
The first phase of the programme, which included the construction of sub-county police stations, deployment of personnel and provision of communication equipment, has largely been completed, with most stations now adequately staffed and equipped.
The motorcycles are expected to boost patrol operations, strengthen community policing and improve rapid response to incidents, especially in hard-to-reach areas.
Speaking while receiving the motorcycles, Busoga East Police spokesperson ASP Michael Kasadha commended the government and the Uganda Police Force for the support, noting that the new equipment would greatly improve the mobility of officers, particularly during night patrols.
Kasadha said the enhanced transport capacity would enable officers to respond more effectively to security incidents and maintain a stronger presence within communities, contributing to improved public safety across the region.
