The East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP), in partnership with Hoima District Local Government, has launched the construction of a Shs1.9 billion maternity ward at Mbaraara Health Centre II in Kitoba Town Council, Hoima District. The project, being implemented by Kaleeta Construction Limited, is expected to be completed within six months and will improve access to maternity services for mothers in the area.

Hoima District Chairperson Uthuman Mugisha Mubarak welcomed the initiative, noting that it will help address challenges faced by expectant mothers who travel long distances for healthcare. Bugahya County MP Pius Wakabi called for additional investments, including an ambulance and a secondary school for the growing population. EACOP also donated support items to expectant mothers, with health experts saying the initiative will promote safer childbirth and contribute to reducing maternal mortality.
