Kabale District has received 170,000 long-lasting insecticide-treated mosquito nets for distribution to households across 79 parishes as part of the Ministry of Health’s nationwide campaign to eliminate malaria by 2035.

The mosquito nets, delivered by the National Medical Stores (NMS), are part of a national rollout of 25.8 million nets across 130 districts. Household distribution in Kabale is scheduled for August under the campaign’s fourth phase.

Health officials urged residents to use the nets strictly for malaria prevention, warning against misuse, illegal sale and cross-border smuggling. District leaders were tasked with strengthening community sensitisation, monitoring and accountability to ensure the mosquito nets reach the intended beneficiaries.

The Ministry of Health says the campaign is a key intervention to reduce malaria infections and protect vulnerable groups, particularly pregnant women and children, while advancing Uganda’s goal of a malaria-free nation by 2035.
