President Yoweri Museveni on Monday hosted the Democratic Republic of Congo’s Special Envoy, Mr. Floribert Anzuluni Isiloketshi, at his Kisozi Farm, where the two leaders held high-level discussions on the security situation in eastern DR Congo and ways to strengthen regional cooperation.
The meeting focused on issues of mutual interest, with particular attention given to ongoing efforts to restore peace and stability in eastern DR Congo, a region that has experienced decades of conflict involving numerous armed groups.
Speaking after the meeting, President Museveni highlighted the importance of sustained collaboration among neighbouring countries in tackling shared security challenges and fostering regional peace.
“This morning at my Kisozi Farm, I received Mr. Floribert Anzuluni Isiloketshi, the Special Envoy of the Democratic Republic of Congo. We discussed matters of mutual interest, particularly the security situation in eastern DRC,” President Museveni said.
The President reaffirmed Uganda’s commitment to working closely with regional partners to promote lasting peace, emphasizing that stability remains the foundation for economic development and improved livelihoods across the region.
“Peace and stability in our region remain essential for the prosperity of our people, and we shall continue working together with our regional partners to address the challenges facing eastern Congo,” he added.
The meeting comes at a time when regional leaders are intensifying diplomatic and security efforts to end persistent violence in eastern DR Congo, where several armed groups continue to threaten peace despite ongoing initiatives.
Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo have continued to strengthen their partnership on security through bilateral and regional mechanisms aimed at combating armed groups, enhancing border security, and promoting long-term stability for the benefit of both nations.
