Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited has commissioned the 220/132/33kV Buloba Substation, a major milestone in strengthening electricity reliability across the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area. The facility was successfully connected to the national grid on Sunday evening, marking a key upgrade to the regionโs power infrastructure.
Designed with high-capacity transformers, the substation is part of the broader transmission system improvement project aimed at stabilizing and expanding Kampalaโs electricity networkโan area that has long faced intermittent outages affecting homes and businesses.
With transmission now in place, the next phase will be led by Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited, which will connect local feeders to deliver power directly to consumers.
Communities such as Kabulasoke, Mutundwe, Kyengera, Mpigi, and nearby areas are set to benefit from more reliable electricity, supporting growing demand and enhancing both economic activity and daily life
