Uganda has partnered with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to promote the country as a leading tourism destination ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which will be co-hosted by Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania under the PAMOJA arrangement.
The agreement grants the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) official destination sponsorship rights, providing an international platform to showcase Uganda’s wildlife, cultural heritage, hospitality and tourism attractions to football fans and visitors from across the world.
The partnership was launched in Kampala in the presence of CAF General Secretary Samson Adamu, UTB Chief Executive Officer Juliana Kagwa, State Minister for Sports Peter Ogwang, State Minister for Tourism Susan Nakawuki Nsambu and Deputy Speaker of Parliament Thomas Tayebwa.
The initiative will use CAF’s international broadcast, digital and stadium platforms to market Uganda under the *Explore Uganda – The Pearl of Africa* brand, with the aim of attracting visitors, encouraging investment and creating lasting economic opportunities beyond the tournament.
AFCON PAMOJA 2027 is scheduled to take place from June 19 to July 17, 2027.
